About

About SC Ridesharing

In many ways, SC Ridesharing is trying to find ways to help students become accustomed to their college life by doing something quite ironic: making sure that you have a ride back home. We know it does not have much to do with college, but one of the best parts of holidays from college is going back home to be with your family and friends. This ridesharing program is the median for a much easier transition to finding those long-distance rides or saving money that students would otherwise spend on gas. We've got you covered...

Our hopes for the future

We want to develop this website further, which means getting your feedback. Keep emailing us about your concerns and recommendations on what we should focus on improving next. Our main goal is to officially become affiliated with the University of South Carolina and simplify your login experience. How so? By interconnecting our services to the USC Central Authentication Service, getting into Ridesharing will be like logging into Blackboard or Self Service Carolina.

How Information is Shared

  1. When drivers and passengers decide if they want to ride with each other, they look at the person’s background. For this reason, we share some of your personal information with potential ridesharers, including your name, gender, and the academic and college information you provided during sign-up. Your date of birth is not shared with anyone unless an internal investigation arises. In that case, we would have to hand over that information to the law enforcement officials.
  2. Your preferences are also shared with the ridesharers to help them get a better picture of your person so they can make a sensible choice on whether they would like to ride with you.
  3. A passenger’s contact information is only shared if a driver is interested in riding with you.

Note

SC Ridesharing is not affiliated with the University of South Carolina and only serves to make connections between USC students to provide more ways to travel and save gas money. Ridesharing is not a guaranteed success, and requires patience when searching for rides.
